SEN. PANFILO LACSON BACKED OUT FROM THE 2010 PRESIDENTIAL RACE

The battle for the Philippine presidency on 2010 has not started yet formally but Senator Panfilo Lacson, one of the early birds in the race has opted to backed out mainly for financial reasons kuno? He decided not to participate anymore in ROUND 2 of the ANC Leaders’ FORUM by ABS-CBN that could have him seated beside his former boss, Former Pres. JOSEPH ERAP ESTRADA, Senator LOREN LEGARDA,Mayor JEJOMAR BINAY, MMDA Chairman BAYANI FERNANDO at the auditorium of the UP School of Economics-Diliman,Quezon City. I admire Sen. Lacson as an anti-corruption crusader. His decision not to receive his PhP200 million pork barrel annually is commendable. In his prepared statement released to the media, he talked about continuing his relentless battle for good governance. He also cited difficulties in reaching out to the D & E classes of the electorate who according to him are the vulnerable ones for dole-outs from corrupt politicians. What I find contradictory is his gripes about spending billions to get elected as president in this country while saying also to fight any attempt to change our constitution. Di ba napakalinaw na ang presidential system ang dahilan kung bakit candidates have to spend billions and accept financial contributions from big businesses and individuals just to win an election?? After each election whoever is the winner will surely be beholden to the financial backers who will recover their investments by way of government contracts and other favors from the sitting government. Why not consider a shift to parliamentary form of government? Teka muna,lumihis ata usapan natin ah? I’m pro-cha-cha after 2010 because it’s no longer possible to do it before 2010.It’s only Speaker Prospero Nograles and his band who believes otherwise by way of H.R.1109. Anyway, Ping Lacson could have been a good president with his track record of being a no-nonsense crime buster and an anti-corruption crusader but the fact still remains—HE SHOULD COME OUT CLEAN AND CLEAR HIS NAME with regards to the allegations of his shady past of allegedly ordering his men in the PNP-PAOCTF to kill PR man SALVADOR BUBBY DACER and his driver EMMANUEL CORBITO. This heinous crime is reportedly tied to the BW RESOURCES SCANDAL that nearly caused the collapse of the Philippine stock market in 2000.
