Recently Vice President NOLI DE CASTRO is saying that he is not in favor of term extensions of officials beyond 2010. If he had his way, he’s in favor of charter change as long as it will only be about tinkering with the economic provisions of the constitution. Oh c’mon KABAYAN, Siyempre naman ikaw ang frontrunner sa mga surveys for presidentiables, eh papayag ka ba naman na harangin ang iyong ambisyon na maging PRESIDENTE sa PILIPINAS!! Asus! Aguruy! Naunsa naman ning atong yutang natawhan.

The presidential sytem has been there for quite a time and it is common knowledge that it has not improved the lives of our countrymen for decades from the time of MARCOS, AQUINO, RAMOS, ESTRADA, ARROYO. Anong nangyari sa bansa natin??? Umangat ba tayo o patuloy na tayong naiiwanan sa ating mga karatig bansa sa ASIA in terms of development. The issue of charter change has been a hot issue for this present and past administrations. Opponents would shoot it right away as a tool for extending the terms of incumbent officials. However until now, I haven’t seen a serious political discussion on the issue regarding its pros and cons. In the United States, President-elect BARACK OBAMA won partly on the platform of CHANGE. In our country, the presidential system has failed tremendously in my opinion. Why not consider a shift to other forms of goverment-PARLIAMENTARY for a CHANGE??? In school, we were taught to conduct experiments in order to prove theories into workable situations. Why won’t we apply this to our political system?? Hanggang dito nalang ba tayo for generations to come? I have yet to hear the stand of the presidentiables MANNY VILLAR, RICHARD GORDON, BAYANI FERNANDO, LOREN LEGARDA, PANFILO LACSON, NOLI DE CASTRO, FMR. PRES. JOSEPH ESTRADA, CHIZ ESCUDERO, MAR ROXAS III on the issue of charter change. This hot issue of charter change would be best left for the people to decide. Ikaw? Anong sey mo?

If not now, WHEN? If not us, WHO?
